I turned down a college scholarship to pursue music. I got my first job after begging a doorman to let me onstage and sing one song. I toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. at just 21 years old. How many people can say that? Not many, but rising star Chris Janson can.

Janson is one of Bigger Picture Group’s newest acts even though he’s been in the music circuit for years now. Unlike most 18-year-olds packing up for freshman dorms, Chris Janson packed up his car and headed for Nashville. Pretty soon he was playing crowded shows at the famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge with spectators ranging from Guns N’ Roses to Neil Young.

Janson’s a triple threat with his radio-fit voice, songwriting ability and magic onstage. He has experience playing sold out shows for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr., and has shared a stage with some of country music’s greats from Emmylou Harris to Trace Adkins.

While his first single was released on BNA in 2010, the best is up ahead for Janson who has been on fire this year. His first cut as a songwriter happens to be Truck Yeah, Tim McGraw’s first single off his new record deal with Big Machine; the song is now certified gold. Not to mention he’s playing the catchy harmonica you hear in Lee Brice’s smash Hard 2 Love.

Don’t be surprised if you hear a new hit on the radio and have to do a double take because you’re sure it’s a Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan combo. Don’t fight the urge to have a redneck revival and give into his country-meets-rock sound, it’s Chris and he’s better you don’t.
